Amber Oak I

This monoprint technique is a special printmaking method where the image can only be made once, unlike most other printmaking which allows for multiple originals. A set of three different botanical monoprints makes a calming and balanced arrangement or simply frame one on its own. Fits standard 20cm x 20cm frame

Oak trees are cherished around the world as a symbol of longevity, stability, endurance and power. For the Greeks, Romans and Celts, the oak was the most highly venerated tree. They each associated the oak with their supreme god with dominion over rain, thunder and lightning. This is probably because oak trees have a high water content and are often taller than surrounding trees, making them prone to lightening strikes. The fact that they can easily pass 300 years of age means that they are commonly thought of as powerful life-affirming symbol.
