Welcome to my art collection:

lovingly designed

with wellbeing in mind

My name is Hannah Pye and I am an artist working in the South East of England. I take my inspiration from mythology, dreams, ancient philosophy and other sources of positive symbolism and wellbeing is always at the centre of my creative process.

Each of my original paintings conveys a deeper meaning, some examples being balance, alignment, guidance, and spiritual connection. My pieces have a dream-like quality open to interpretation by the viewer and there are often hidden elements which reveal themselves over time or to some individuals.

I enjoy working with fluid acrylic paint, alcohol ink or watercolour as I love how the pigments flow and follow their own path. I experiment with combining different densities of fluid acrylic paint so that they interact in unusual ways, resulting in cells, lacing and other interesting effects. This brings an element of unpredictability to the final result which I absolutely love and means that my pieces often have an ethereal, fluid quality.

I am always fascinated when people interpret my work in their own way and can see things within a painting that I hadn’t picked up on myself. It is often figures of people and animals that seem to reveal themselves to individuals and often represent something very personal to them.

My Background

My background is in Psychology and Education. I graduated from Goldsmith’s University of London with a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology. This gave me an amazing opportunity to study human behaviour using a scientific approach, looking in detail at processes influencing how people think, feel, behave, and interact.

My interest in mental well-being carried forward from there into my 27-year teaching career and into my work as an artist. It also led me to run Mindful Art workshops at a holistic retreat centre in Lake House Kent and at Walsingham House near Brenwood, Essex. I designed these sessions to create a meditative, nurturing atmosphere in which to gently guide others through simple painting exercises. The relaxing feeling of becoming completely absorbed in the present, watching the vibrant pigments flow, merge and blend is something that I wanted to share with others, giving complete beginners the opportunity to tap into the stress-reducing benefits of creativity.

This passion for creativity and wellbeing drives me to continue to share my art with others. It is very rewarding when other people connect with the positive messages behind my work and to know that my pieces have a special place at the very heart of their homes, offering moments of mindfulness and reflection.

Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy my Website.
